So we all woke up this morning to our 'front page news!' I told some of you recently and blogged about it....that my friend that replaced me in the BU Spirit Coordinator position last summer when we moved to Alabama was wrongly fired a couple of weeks ago. Well, since then...another friend, Rachael (middle of picture) also was let go. She took my spot as the cheer coach for the All Girl Cheerleaders. She recently spoke to the paper and it is no longer a secret anymore. The story is linked at the top of this post online...but the hard copy is MUCH better. The hard copy also captured it as FRONT PAGE NEWS...literally almost taking up the entire front page with a picture of one of my favorite students doing a back tuck and then other pics and the story...caption reading "Everyone's not cheering about BU's Move." So WEIRD to see 'my former' area making news filling up the entire front page of a pretty big city newspaper. Anyway...read for yourself, the article is pretty good and definitely 'exposes' the injustice of this whole matter. Forrest made a comment earlier that if we hadn't moved last summer then this would have happened to me...he's right...since they didn't care who was in the position...they just simply fired and hired...because they can. That is unreal. BTW, I didn't get to go to the dinner last night. My shoot lasted too long. But everyone who went said it was nice.
The community is trying to heal. We still have "those" in the crowd, but I think many have learned some valuable lessons about standing up for what is right. What we learned is that when you don't stand up, bad things happen.
Heck yeah, that would have been you, no doubt. What a shame that people at a Christian university can't do business any better than that!!! I really hate what happened!!!
